 Furniture legs are placed on styrofoam  blocks to avoid leg ends from making marks or rusting.  (Some leg ends have mettle runners or glides.)  This avoids mettle rusting or the color bleeding into the carpet from some wood stains.  The protection of your furniture is as important to me as the cleaning of the carpet itself.
